The final has come and gone, and Matt Flint has now become ‘Britain’s favourite dancer.’ Luke placed second, Katie third and Kirsty fourth.

For the final show, the dancers had to do three couples routines, a solo performance and a group number which was the opening performance. The dancers performed a Pop-Jazz routine to ‘Don’t stop me now’ which was the best opening possible to the show. It was so fun and all of them looked like they enjoyed every second of the routine, there was not a foot, hand, stretch, jump; a move, out of place.

This was then followed by Matt and Katie who performed a Jazz routine; it was so strong, full of fire and attack, the judges even felt that the number set the standard really high for the night. Matt, as always, adapted to the style and was brilliant and together with Katie, they pulled out a flawless routine but this time, compared to previous weeks, Katie really looked to be in her element.

Kirsty and Luke then came out with a Contemporary routine that was packed with lifts, and somewhat more of Luke dancing rather than both of them. The piece was very emotional and Luke showed off his flexibility; the way he moves is simply amazing especially for the height he is, he also showed off his technical abilities which were perfect. Although Kirsty was not as technically great, she, as always, put all her efforts and emotions into the performance, as she does with every dance, and her personality, again, just shone through which easily sells the dance and draws you in.

Each dancer then performed their solo; their chance to really show how much they wanted to win; Katie was up first with a very good, solid performance. Next up was Matt and his tapping self; absolutely amazing of a performance. Kirsty then showed off a sexy side; her solo was full of flare and she ended it nicely in the splits. Lastly was Luke who’s solo was full of gorgeous extensions, he also played with each beat of the song really well.

Kirsty and Matt then performed a beautiful, romantic, calming and graceful, American Smooth Foxtrot. For this routine, Kirsty nailed the technique; both did extremely well, Matt was full of charm and Kirsty was so elegant. They performed the routine properly; Matt led and Kirtsy let him, something that is hard to adapt to, the steps were perfect and the judges saw the connection between the pair.

Another ballroom dance was done; this time being the Tango by Luke and Katie. The dance was not as strong or as sharp as it should have been. Despite this being said, it was very entertaining and passionate, overall a good performance and the lifts looked effortless for Luke, but there needed to be more attack for it to be a great routine.

The boys then came out with a Tap number which was one of the best couple routines this season; nothing went wrong in it; it was a performance that could leave a person speechless. Although Matt is a tapper by nature; he did not outshine Luke, who kept up with everything; both were fantastic; hit every step in time with the music and one another and they were both so charming and charismatic.

This was followed by the girls who performed a Broadway routine that was a little out of sync at the start but they picked it up and overall it was very entertaining. Their play on the song ‘Defying gravity,’ the way they used the speed and lyrics of the music was just excellent. The pair together; Katie’s technique and Kirsty’s personality; really made the dance something superb; and their use of harnesses was an incredible way to end the show and the season.

In the results show, the top 20 came back for one last performance, was definitely great to see them all back with such a bubbly, fun routine. The routines this week were all fantastic and the night was a real test for the dancers. This final was high in standards and they all really did dance for their lives but now it is all over, the season has finished, but the question is, will there be another season or is the end of So You Think You Can Dance?

Semi-finals and the dancers had to learn five routines for the night. The remaining six opened the show with a very lively and entertaining group dance. They then split for a paired performance, followed by solos, then a group dance by each of the sexes and finally one more group dance in the results show.

Now out of So You Think You Can Dance, despite both having a very good night, are Bethany-Rose and Lee B. The two were paired together this week and performed a Cha-Cha routine that set the standard for the night. Although it was not a typical Cha-Cha routine, it consisted of amazing lifts that really tested their strength, especially from Lee B, and showed their trust in one another. Lee was as good as always and performed a solo that looked fun from the start. This week was definitely a better one for Bethany-Rose; her solo also showed a nice change from her normal sexy routines to a slower, softer performance.

Also in the bottom was Katie who performed a very emotional Contemporary routine alongside Matt. It was slow and strong, the passion of the dance was so easily seen especially with the leap by Katie; Louise even said the routine was perfection. Her solo was also stronger than last weeks with no mistakes this time. Matt, once again, was technically brilliant in the paired performance; he seems to adjust to every style but is outstanding when it comes to his normal tapping ways; his solo was simply a joy to watch.

Luke was the other dancer to be in the bottom, he performed a Broadway routine with Kirsty. Luke was perfect throughout the routine, the fast paced and upbeat choreography would usually be harder for someone of his height, but he hit every move as he should have. His solo was also very expressive, full of high jumps and beautiful extensions. The Broadway routine was fun, bubbly and cute; the prom night theme was so similar to Grease and Kirsty, in the dress she wore, with her facial expressions and personality, was so much like the character of Frenchie, however, the judges believed she was weaker than Luke which, to some extent, let him down. This was also the case with her solo; it was not the best she has done although she did convey strong emotions in it.

After all of the solos and paired performances, the boys performed a hot Paso Doble. It was the perfect routine from the guys yet again. There were no mistakes, they were in sync and hit every step right. Each of them attacked it full on, and individually they were so strong, but together they were even better. Out of them all, Luke stood out the most; the dance really suited him and his stature as he performed it, was gripping.

This was then followed by the girls, who did a Contemporary routine which started out of sync but got better. The canon effect worked really well, with the snow and the white dresses, the whole piece was really beautiful, calming and peaceful; a very nice contrast to the boys’ routine and for this routine, Bethany-Rose was more eye-catching than the other two.

In the results show, the dancers performed another group routine, 60’s style, which was packed with energy, character and it looked as if they all had a great time doing this routine; it definitely worked more in the favour of Luke and Kirsty as their personalities just shone through.

Now onto the finals and down to the final four; Matt, Katie, Luke or Kirsty, who will be crowned the winner of So You Think You Can Dance?

What did you think of the performances, did the right people go? Who do you think will win? We welcome your own opinions, you can add them below.

It was the quarter finals, the couples were split up and new ones were formed but throughout the night, the dancers were being judged individually. They were judged separately on their paired performance, as well as on a solo performance and a group performance. Out of the bottom four; Bethany-Rose, Charlotte, Israel and Lee B, the two now out are Charlotte and Israel.

Charlotte’s solo was bubbly and we got to see her spinning that got her into the competition in the first place, but it was not the best solo. She was paired with Lee B whose solo was very unique and gripping to watch. The pair performed a Contemporary routine which was a great performance, more so for Lee. They made a good team, however, the judges said the dance exposed Charlotte; her technique was not right, compared to Lee’s whose was perfect, and her face did not tell the story properly.

This week, Katie and Israel became a pair and performed a Broadway routine. Although Katie’s technique was flawless, and the style really did suit her in every way, at some points in the dance, it looked as if she did not trust Israel. Despite his solo performance being a decent one showing his hip hop abilities, for the Broadway routine, he did not look as comfortable. For some of the lifts he looked nervous, but he managed to keep it together and perform it well, but was not as strong as Katie. There were little hiccups within the routine but overall it was a good performance.

Bethany-Rose was one of the first solo performances which was lively, full of energy and was a strong performance. This week she was teamed up with Luke whose solo was very good; he uses his body, his height and the length of his limbs to his advantage. Together they performed a Hip Hop routine that, for her, went wrong from the start. She was all over the place, not in time with the music or in sync with her partner, and for some of the moves it looked like it took all of her energy to get back up and perform. Luke on the other hand, attacked the dance and showed strength, technically, he was not the best but he did not look as if he struggled, whereas Bethany-Rose did. She really needs to step up her game for the semi finals.

The last couple to perform was Kirsty and Matt, who picked out a Rumba. Both are amazing dancers, very strong in their previous couples, and when paired together, the strength remained. They adapted to each other and the style so well. Their Rumba was slow, sweet and hot all over; a great performance. They also both had fantastic solos, Kirsty’s was so cute, lively, upbeat and extremely fun to watch, and Matt’s was full of tricks; his tapping talents finally got to be seen after so long.

After all of the solo and paired performances, the sexes split for their group numbers. The girls kicked it off with a very well choreographed Jazz routine. Out of the four, Kirsty stood out the most; she kept the character and made no mistakes. Bethany-Rose also did well, had the character and the sexiness down. Charlotte looked to have the most energy, but as with her paired performance, the facial expressions did not match the story. Usually one of the strongest dancers, Katie, did not outshine the others this time around; she was hardly noticeable for this routine.

This was then followed by the boys’ jazz routine which was the best routine to date that has ever been performed on So You Think You Can Dance. Each one of them were fantastic, they all looked extra hot, smooth, and they owned the routine as individuals and as a group.

Overall a good show, now onto the semi-finals and that bit closer to the final, weak spots were definitely seen this week, but how will it be next week? Who will fall under the ever increasing pressure and who will triumph?

What did you think of the performances, did the right people go? We welcome your own opinions, you can add them below.

This week, the top ten had to learn two new dance styles. Some couples adapted to this better than others, one couple; Tom and Katrina, to the judges, did not rise to this challenge as well as they could have so are now out of the competition.

They opened the showed with a Salsa number that lacked hips, sex appeal and normal salsa choreography.

Although Tom tried harder this week, which could be seen in his performance, it was not enough, both looked as if they were trying too hard.

The second dance they performed was a Jazz routine which did not work either. There were little mistakes being made and gain, no sex appeal. Both of their dances were weak.

Also in the bottom two couples were Bethany-Rose and Israel who performed a lyrical hip hop routine followed by a Charleston. The lyrical hip hop number to Rihanna’s ‘Love the Way You Lie’ was so strong and full of emotion. The couple told the story brilliantly, every move was beautiful to watch. Their second dance of the night however, was not as strong, there were quite a few mistakes but they kept it together. Also, the classic ‘pecking’ move of the Charleston should have been stronger; the couple seemed to have less energy for this dance. However, it was fun to watch and it really suited Bethany-Rose, not so much Israel, but together they made it work.

They were followed by Charlotte and Matt who picked out Disco and Contemporary this week. Both performances were amazing once again, every week they seem to pull out great routines. Their disco routine was lively, fun and energetic, however, if they had more old school moves; classic 60s, 70s style; it could have been better. Their contemporary routine was a big change of style; it was packed with emotion that seemed to ooze from their bodies. The connection between these two is unbelievable; they really do dance as one. Charlotte looked so light on her feet and they made the dance look effortless.

This week Kirsty and Lee B performed a Broadway routine, hippy style. Although it looked really good; very free and loose, slightly calming, the story is not something everyone would be able to understand as it was based on the musical ‘Hair’. It was not a typical Broadway routine and the judges did not like it as much as previous routines done by the pair. They also had a hip hop routine which was not the best either especially technically. However, they did
play on the song really well.

Last up were Katie and Luke who had to do a Commercial routine and a Viennese Waltz. For their first routine, Luke stole it from Katie whose legs seemed to be dead at some points; she has to pick it up to keep up with his energy and flare. However, their Waltz was absolutely gorgeous to watch; it was so graceful and elegant and seemed so effortless for the couple. It is a shame that they were not partners from the start.

Overall a good week in which we got to see new dance styles but this was the final week in which the couples are together. Now down to eight dancers, no partnerships, so we will get to see their individual talents.

What did you think of the performances, did the right people go? We welcome your own opinions, you can add them below.

Well this time we say goodbye to not two dancers, but four, one couple now out are Rithy and Shane. They performed a contemporary routine showing a slower, calmer side to them, but it didn’t work so well. Compared to all their other performances, this was probably their weakest dance, and one of the weakest performances of the night; the judges were not impressed. Although it was beautiful to watch and was a nice change to the atmosphere and mood of the show, their connection wasn’t as strong as in their other routines and it didn’t flow.

Also out is Danielle who performed a lyrical hip hop routine alongside Luke. The judges believed Luke outshone her for this dance, however, she was strong and together they worked really well. This was by far one of the better lyrical hip hop routines we’ve seen this competition, it actually played on the words of the song and both dancers made the story come alive.

We also see Lee C exit the competition; he performed a Broadway routine with Katie. Usually Katie shines through and really attacks the dance but this time around the judges felt she lacked the same passion for dance that she had when she first came into the competition. Compared to previous dances the couple have performed, this wasn’t their best, the story didn’t work and the normal flare was missing from this performance. Saying this, it still looked cute and fun, it just wasn’t as good.

A couple who didn’t have a good night were Tom and Katrina, Katrina was again so much better than Tom, who seems to be disregarding the criticism the judges constantly give him. Instead of progressing in his abilities, he’s just stationary with his partner miles ahead of him. He really needs to pull it together and step up his game otherwise he might be going home; he’s looks to be one of the weakest dancers in the show.

To open the show, Matt and Charlotte performed a superb Lindy hop, so full of energy, so lively and fun, again, a perfect performance despite it not being a familiar dance for Charlotte; she was amazing. They definitely are one of, if not, the, strongest couple in the competition. It was so entertaining and was a great way to start the show.

Another amazing performance was done by Israel and Bethany-Rose who did a commercial routine. Israel finally showed his abilities, he managed to keep up with Bethany-Rose who made the dance extra sexy and attacked it so well. It was full of passion, strength and fire and both were in sync throughout; it was their best performance so far in So You Think You Can Dance, to top it off they ended the dance with a sexy kiss.

Last to perform were Kirsty and Lee B, and certainly a great way to end the night with their Argentine Tango. Not an easy dance to learn, very technical with intricate moves, but they managed to ace it within a week. Kirsty is amazing to watch, every move comes through her body so beautifully and Lee is an exceptional dancer. They made the dance so hot, full of passion and received full on praise from the judges. They seem to be a couple to look out for.

The group performance to Lady Ga-Ga’s ‘Born This Way’ was packed with energy, they looked like they had a lot of fun with it and we got to see the similar dancers paired up so individual talents shone through.

Overall, a very good week, the standard of the competition has hit a new high, who will crumble under the pressure? What did you think of the performances, did the right people go? We welcome your own opinions, you can add them below.

The third live show and now out are Charlie and Alice, who performed a hip hop routine, the choreography was good but neither dancer performed it as best as they could have. At some points Alice was dancing ahead and Charlie was dancing behind the music. Alice really attacked the routine but it came across as her trying too hard to impress the judges.

Despite another great performance from Rithy and Shane, yet again, they ended up in the bottom two couples. They did a commercial routine, Rithy kept it sexy and Nigel praised Shane saying it was his best dance so far. The floor work looked a bit messy and little mistakes were made but they made it look good and they nailed the overhead lift.

Another hip hop routine was performed by Kirsty and Lee B, this time being lyrical hip hop, to Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are.” A very powerful song with great lyrics that could be played on, yet this wasn’t done; obviously not down to the couple but the choreographer. It could have been a nice love story just like the actual video for the song. However, what they were given to do, they did do well, apart from messing up the floor choreography, they attacked the dance, were in sync, and were very entertaining.

To open the show, Danielle and Luke performed a very powerful Paso Doble, with judges finally seeing a connection between the pair. It was definitely a better dance for the pair but the music choice was all wrong, it didn’t do the dance justice at all.

Katrina and Tom also picked out ballroom this week, specifically, a quickstep but it was hardly that. There were minimal moves that are typical of the quickstep, it was more ballet combined with tap. Given that this is a hard dance to learn, it’s fair to say that they did try their best. However, considering Tom is a tapper, he should have been a lot lighter and quicker on his feet, judges said he needs to do better, he knows he’s weaker than Katrina, but it seems like he’s not even trying to change that.

We got to see a more emotional side of Bethany-Rose and Israel with a contemporary routine. Now this really did show a different side to both of them and it was full of emotion and great lifts, but they are nowhere near the standard that we are at in this competition. Bethany-Rose is a much stronger dancer than Israel and she always seems to do better than him; she almost outshines him with her technique, the couple had a bad performance last week, although this time it was much better, Israel really needs to step up. Again, he should have been fighting for his life this week.

A jazz routine was done by Katie and Lee C, despite Lee receiving criticism, he kept up well with the dance and Katie who is clearly blessed with technique in every dance she’s done so far. Lee was obviously out of his comfort zone, but he pulls it out each week, he’s definitely getting better.

The phrase, ‘save the best ‘til last’ certainly was true this week, with Charlotte and Matt’s Broadway routine. It was a perfect performance which received a standing ovation from the judges. Nothing went wrong, every step was in sync; it was so fun to watch and was the best routine by far, such an amazing partnership.

Overall a mixed show, some good, some bad, now were down to seven couples, but next week four dancers will be kicked out of the competition so they better pull everything out.

This week, out of the competition is Stephanie Powell and Gian-Luca Loddo, last week their partners were kicked out so they were put together. They performed a Cha-Cha which was actually really good; Stephanie kept it hot and sexy and full of hips, it was definitely her dance. Gian-Luca brought his own flare, was strong and did well to keep up with the dance, just need a bit more technique. The song choice however, didn’t do the routine justice; it didn’t fit in with the choreography.

Also in the bottom two couples were Rithy and Shane who performed a hip hop routine, Charlie Chaplin style. It wasn’t a typical hip hop routine but was amazing, it was all in time, used each note of the music, the characters were so fun and it was a cute, simple routine. They had great teamwork, shown when Shane stopped Rithy from falling after one of the flips. Both were great and received praise from the judges, they didn’t belong in the bottom two.

Another couple who got hip hop were Bethany-Rose and Israel, considering Israel’s strength is hip hop, he did not do well this time around. Neither contestant did. Their characters were there but there was no life or power in their steps. The routine tanked, the judges didn’t have anything good to say about it, they should have been in the bottom two this week but dodged it, they better step up their performances, or next time they might not be so lucky.

Apart from this, everyone had a pretty good performance. Charlotte and Matt’s Jazz routine was first up, they had a cane prop and used it extremely well, it was a powerful routine, Charlotte fought through a head injury and Nigel said he thought Matt was one of the best male dancers there.

Katie and Lee C’s Contemporary routine was probably one of the strongest of the night, Katie, being in her element, she owned the routine but Lee managed to keep up. It was amazing choreography and the pair made it look simple and easy even though it was so technical. Everything flowed and the performance was full of passion, it was so strong and both did well, the only pointer from Arlene was that Lee needs to use his body more.

Following this were Lee B and Kirsty dancing a Bollywood routine. It was very upbeat, lively and very entertaining. Kirsty was much better technically, and she really attacked the dance, Lee needed a bit more power in the steps, but he showed some hidden strength, making the lifts look easy.

The Broadway routine by Tom and Katrina was full of energy, in the routine there was a great lift and spin into the splits from Katrina who definitely did better than Tom. She manages to change from dances effortlessly, it seems. Both were good and despite some criticism from the judges, Tom did much better than last week.

Also improving from last week were Alice and Charlie with their Waltz. Alice looked so beautiful, graceful and elegant and Charlie nailed the routine. He managed to get the technique down and made the dance his own.

Last to perform were Danielle and Luke doing a Commercial routine. Danielle definitely triumphed in that routine; as a dancer and the character she played. Both went all out in the routine, the faces, the energy and the attack were all there, but it was more lifts rather than dancing itself. The judges also had conflicting views, Nigel seeing nothing good from their performance.

The Royal Wedding also got into the show being the opening performance, it was a very upbeat and the classic old school moves made it so fun to watch. Overall, it was a better week for the majority of couples, however, the pair now out, were they really the worst on the night?

First week of competition and we say goodbye to Paige Smith who performed a Jazz routine with Gian-Luca. It’s not a big surprise that Paige was knocked out, the routine was messy and all over the place, the judges even said she was clumsy throughout the performance. It was not just down to her though, the choreography was rubbish; it didn’t show the dancers strengths, it was just running around, jumping and more of a stage show not a dance routine.

The other contestant now out of the show is Ryan Jenkins who performed with Stephanie in a Commercial routine; a fusion of jazz and street dance to show pop culture. It was the first performance of the night and it was not the best routine at all, especially for the song choice. The routine lacked the same energy and liveliness of the song. When dancing together it looked good, apart from that, the choreography was not in time with music and it had no life to it. Stephanie also looked untrusting of her partner for the lifts.

The first live show is meant to let everyone see the talent and the weaknesses of the dancers; however, it hardly did that. The majority of the routines were too focused on a story or the characters; there was not enough actual dancing in them.

Alice and Charlie performed a contemporary routine which was not that good; the story was there but technique was not, mainly for Charlie. Alice was much better for this routine. The Samba routine by Danielle and Luke not a good performance. Danielle had no hips, dead legs, and killed the routine compared to Luke who was full of energy. When they danced together there was no chemistry, it looked boring.

By contrast, a routine that was really beautiful to watch was that of Charlotte and Matt who performed a Foxtrot. It is a shame that this performance didn’t open the show. Despite not being a typical, technically correct foxtrot, they made it look great; both were so graceful and made it seem effortless.

Another couple the judges took a fancy to were, Kirsty and Lee B. Their Contemporary routine was slow, sweet, intense, relaxing and really beautiful. Definitely one of the better routines of the night. Rithy and Shane also had a good night with their Broadway routine, a style neither are strong in but both adapted really well. Full of energy and lifts which looked too easy for Shane. The same goes for Israel and Bethany-Rose who did a disco routine. Both adapted to the style and it was a good performance, Israel just needs to tone down his facial expressions.

Two hip hop routines were performed; one by Lee C and Katy which was great from the beginning, the story was cute and funny. However, Lee received heavy criticism from the judges about his technique, they dubbed Katy the star of that routine. The other was by Tom and Katrina, again, such a fun story and very entertaining but there was too much hand choreography which was not in sync, it needed more dancing.

However, the last number performed by all the contestants was amazing; nothing went wrong, they were all in sync, a beautifully done canon technique was done midway through the routine, too bad the whole show was not as good. Overall, it was not the best way to start the season; the choreography for the night was poor and did not show the dancers abilities at all.

So you think you can dance all kicked off with an amazing sailor-themed group performance. The routine was clean and precise and the ladies made it as sexy as even. The energy of all the contestants was through the roof, even as the performers split into duos, smaller groups or performed solo, the precision remained and the individual talents were shown off. Being a larger group than last year, the opening performance was a great one; they worked well with and complimented one another.

Next for the live shows, contestants of the same or similar styles of dance took to the stage, the idea was to show everyone their strengths before they begin all the other dance styles they may not know or be as strong in next week.

First to show themselves off were, Shane, Luke, Bethany-Rose, and Katy performing a Jazz routine, vampire-style. To start it off the boys were lowered onto the stage, a good technique to enhance the routines theme. The strongest girl looked to be Bethany-Rose, she threw herself into that performance, put all her efforts into the routine and the vampire character, out of the boys and for the same reasons, it would have to be Luke. Judges thought Shane needed to let loose and just immerse himself in the routine. The routine was strong, went with the power of the song, however, more group choreography would have made the performance better. Throughout, it was mainly the girls dancing, when the boys were involved, they were just catching or lifting the girls, to have them actually dance choreography would have been better to show their abilities rather than their muscles.

From vampires to old people, next up were the break dancers and hip-hoppers Rithy, Lee, Isreal and Charlie performing to the classic Run-DMC’s ‘It’s like that.’ The mixture of tricks and the old school moves of hip-hop and break dancing worked well. Rithy being the only girl, kept up really well with the guys, she brought her own flare and kept it sexy, strong and full of attitude. The whole routine was amazing, comical yet powerful, the choreography was intricate and somewhat difficult to do as a group and remain in sync, but these four did it and they did it well. Charlie was told by Arlene to bring in some new tricks and Nigel is expecting the boys of this routine to have a lot more exciting moves for the rest of the show, ones they hadn’t seen before

Danielle, Stephanie, Katrina and Gian-Luca took to the stage changing the pace to a slower, more relaxing Contemporary performance. Three girls and one guy did not work well for the routine, it was too much for one man to do, it made the routine look slightly messy as he had to move between the three girls and lift them all, the routine did not flow as well as it could have if, it would have been better if there were two men. Again, this routine was less dancing mainly for Gian-Luca, it was more catching and lifting however he kept up and managed to sell the routine and really show his physical strength. Despite this, when the group danced together it was in sync and so beautiful to watch; the emotions and techniques were all there. It’ a shame there wasn’t more of that.

Dancing a Broadway routine were Lee, Tom, Matt, Charlotte and Paige. The star of the routine was a good use of the music, some parts were out of sync but then the two tappers Tom and Matt performed together and it was absolutely gorgeous to watch and left the judges wanting more of it. Both hit every step perfectly, it was probably the best part of the routine. However, it was a big focal point, and it was almost too much of them and not enough of the others. At one point, Lee performed solo, but it seemed quite pointless in the routine, it was not gripping and considering he was by himself, he could have done much more. As a group they performed very well, however, when they separated, Lee looked to be the odd one out in the routine; the girls performed together, and the other two boys were together then Lee was separate; even Nigel thought two separate routines should have been done in the performance, one with the tappers, then one with Lee and the girls rather than trying to throw it all together. Although it was not the best group formed, the personalities of each of them shone through.

The last group performance was another Contemporary routine by Kirsty, Alice and Ryan. The whole thing was very entertaining and funny but was not the best performance; the majority of the group choreography, considering there was not much of this, was out of sync which made it look messy and sloppy, you couldn’t even tell who was dancing at the wrong time. Louise and Sisco criticised the acting of the three dancers saying it took much of the focus away from the dancing, they over-sold their faces and expressions; it was too much. Overall it was a good routine but was not done as well as it should have been, as a group, especially since this is the Top 20 stage. Looking at each of them separately, they are all good dancers; hopefully each of their next performances will be better.

Boys vs. Girls

Performing to ‘This is a man’s world,’ the boys had to learn a contemporary routine by Sarah Boulter; it was aimed at showing the physicality; their bodies and their strength. They were stripped then faked tanned by the girls to make it look better. By far, the best performance of the night, the whole thing was just so well done, the spotlights moving from dancer to dancer, the song choice, the movements of the dancers; it was truly incredible. Some of the simplest of choreography was performed with so much passion and strength. All of their expressions just added to the feel of the performance and was just enthralling. Nigel referred to every aspect of the number; the lighting, cameras and choreography, as magic. A very manly, energy-filled, and powerful performance.

Following, were the girls performing a lyrical/jazz routine by Kevan Allen. The choreography was to tell a story of 10 birds emerging and transforming into sexy, vibrant women. Right from the beginning, as soon as the beat dropped, the attitude and power of the girls came out. They really attacked the dance, their personalities came out, and they kept it sexy, some bits girly, but really strong at the same time. The boys showed off their chests but the girls showed off their legs and received praise for how they used them from Arlene. However, the more intricate part of the routine involving more arm and hand choreography wasn’t in sync at one point making it look slightly messy but they cleaned it up well because the rest of the performance was brilliant. Sisco thought it was better than the boys’ performance saying the girls “killed it.”

Overall, what a way to start off the live shows; amazing performances, you got to see personalities and the strengths of the dancers, but the real test will be from here on out. The following weeks will really test the dancers, their abilities and their weaknesses will come out.

The final of the first UK version of So You Think You Can Dance has finally come.

Over the last few weeks we have the dancers from a variety of dance backgrounds from ballet to hip, being taken out of the comfort zone with new dance routines such as bollywood or the paso double to learn.

At the start of the show we had 14 now, only 3 remain after Robbie White unfortunately could no longer participate due to injury. The final three are Tommy, Charlie and Lizzie who did you pick as Britain's favourite dancer.

The final show and in third place was Lizzie, second Tommy and the winner was Charlie.

Lizzie and Tommy’s performance of a jazz routine alongside was a fantastic opening to the show with a busy routine very well choreographed, together they make a good partnership; their performance was in sync the every time it needed to be. It was a very powerful performance. It became a true battle of the sexes with Tommy in control of Lizzie during some of the moves. He pulled of some great tricks showing his strength, both showed their increased versatility with dance. Nigel said that their performance set a target for everyone else. Lizzie was highly praised by Arlene for being feisty, fiery and fierce; also calling her a dancer, actress, goddess and star.

Tommy and Mark, both hip hop styled dancers performed a great routine, this style brought out Tommy’s strength; it was very entertaining and comical thus making it a joy to watch. Great incorporation of old school hip hop as well as new school moves; elements of locking and popping, the intricacies of the floor work were flawless said Sisco.

Tommy and Charlie had a very sexy opening to their tango routine, very sensual and many of the moves were well controlled maintaining their composition, their posture whilst performing lifts and stretches. The feeling and the chemistry was there, Charlie was slightly stronger than Tommy in this routine, Nigel saying that he could have been more aggressive. Arlene agreed by commenting that this routine was Charlie’s, judges noted that she was no longer a girl but a woman. However, Tommy never ceases to produce an amazing performance. Together their performance was said to be stronger than the song; Louise.

Lizzie and Alastair had a very mixed review from the judges, they were high in energy but Louise said it lacked fire and passion, it was good but not as good as it should have been. Sisco however, believed that she dominated the stage. Nigel agreed that it was a bit of both but wanted more chemistry between the two, whereas Arlene said that she picked up the samba really well especially considering Lizzie had so much to learn for the whole show, her footwork was on point.

Getting a jazz routine Lizzie and Charlie made sure it was very showbiz-like and entertaining, full of flare and sex appeal. They lived up to the Chicago style of Jazz; however, at times they could have been in sync more.

Charlie and Drew’s lyrical routine was such a beautiful and powerful performance, energy and passion coming through their every move; they told the story of the song and the emotion was clear to see especially when she threw herself onto Drew; it was probably one of Charlie’s strongest performances in the show.

Tommy’s solo was so smooth and the routine just flowed; always a phenomenal dancer.
Overall, all of Tommy’s performances were sensational; full of energy and as good as they always are.

Charlie solo – what a burst of energy, full of shakes, shimmies, splits, flips and extensions.
Charlie is always bubbly with her routines and works the stage well; she really knows how to perform.

Lizzie solo – she showed her amazingly unique style, each solo she produces something new thus never failing to entertain.

She knows how to act as well as dance, with every performance her mood and the emotions need are easily conveyed on her face.
The final show was one to remember, it’s a shame that Robbie wasn’t available to dance, however the return of the other dancers made the show a great one. Couples that hadn’t performed together got their chance and every routine was a joy to watch. This season’s over and the first winner to be crowned Britain’s favourite dancer was Charlie Bruce. Let’s see what the next show brings; it should be even better than this one as standards have been set.
