Review Of SYTYCD UK – The Final
The final show and in third place was Lizzie, second Tommy and the winner was Charlie.
Lizzie and Tommy’s performance of a jazz routine alongside was a fantastic opening to the show with a busy routine very well choreographed, together they make a good partnership; their performance was in sync the every time it needed to be. It was a very powerful performance. It became a true battle of the sexes with Tommy in control of Lizzie during some of the moves. He pulled of some great tricks showing his strength, both showed their increased versatility with dance. Nigel said that their performance set a target for everyone else. Lizzie was highly praised by Arlene for being feisty, fiery and fierce; also calling her a dancer, actress, goddess and star.
Tommy and Mark, both hip hop styled dancers performed a great routine, this style brought out Tommy’s strength; it was very entertaining and comical thus making it a joy to watch. Great incorporation of old school hip hop as well as new school moves; elements of locking and popping, the intricacies of the floor work were flawless said Sisco.
Tommy and Charlie had a very sexy opening to their tango routine, very sensual and many of the moves were well controlled maintaining their composition, their posture whilst performing lifts and stretches. The feeling and the chemistry was there, Charlie was slightly stronger than Tommy in this routine, Nigel saying that he could have been more aggressive. Arlene agreed by commenting that this routine was Charlie’s, judges noted that she was no longer a girl but a woman. However, Tommy never ceases to produce an amazing performance. Together their performance was said to be stronger than the song; Louise.
Lizzie and Alastair had a very mixed review from the judges, they were high in energy but Louise said it lacked fire and passion, it was good but not as good as it should have been. Sisco however, believed that she dominated the stage. Nigel agreed that it was a bit of both but wanted more chemistry between the two, whereas Arlene said that she picked up the samba really well especially considering Lizzie had so much to learn for the whole show, her footwork was on point.
Getting a jazz routine Lizzie and Charlie made sure it was very showbiz-like and entertaining, full of flare and sex appeal. They lived up to the Chicago style of Jazz; however, at times they could have been in sync more.
Charlie and Drew’s lyrical routine was such a beautiful and powerful performance, energy and passion coming through their every move; they told the story of the song and the emotion was clear to see especially when she threw herself onto Drew; it was probably one of Charlie’s strongest performances in the show.
Tommy’s solo was so smooth and the routine just flowed; always a phenomenal dancer.
Overall, all of Tommy’s performances were sensational; full of energy and as good as they always are.
Charlie solo – what a burst of energy, full of shakes, shimmies, splits, flips and extensions.
Charlie is always bubbly with her routines and works the stage well; she really knows how to perform.
Lizzie solo – she showed her amazingly unique style, each solo she produces something new thus never failing to entertain.
She knows how to act as well as dance, with every performance her mood and the emotions need are easily conveyed on her face.
The final show was one to remember, it’s a shame that Robbie wasn’t available to dance, however the return of the other dancers made the show a great one. Couples that hadn’t performed together got their chance and every routine was a joy to watch. This season’s over and the first winner to be crowned Britain’s favourite dancer was Charlie Bruce. Let’s see what the next show brings; it should be even better than this one as standards have been set.
